What will I learn?
Would you like to learn the art of passementerie? One of the rarest and most special of all textile crafts, passementerie is the art of creating ornate ribbons, trimmings and fringes.
Whether you're interested in interior design, accessories, or fashion, this 2 part live, online masterclass will teach you the introductory passementerie weaving skills you need to create your own fabulous hand woven trimmings bursting with colour, texture and pattern.
Using simple equipment and materials, you will create 5 different hand woven passementerie designs in the form of a sampler, each design exploring a different technique. After this workshop you will be able to use your new found skills to create all manner of hand woven ribbons and trimmings.
No expensive or unusual materials and equipment is required - just a simple frame loom, some yarns and some ribbons or cords. A full materials list will be emailed to you once you have enrolled on the workshop. After the workshop a pdf of passementerie weaving hints and tips will be emailed to you.
Suitable for beginner weavers or experienced weavers alike.
Is this course live? Yes, absolutely ! All of my online courses are taught live. I only ever teach a small group of students to ensure that you receive maximum support and tuition.
Do I need complicated equipment? Not at all - all you need is a simple frame loom, some yarns and some ribbons and cords that are available online from any hobby/craft shop. A full materials list will be sent to you at the time of enrolment.
What will we be making during this masterclass? We will be focusing on learning the introductory skills of passementerie weaving through creating 5 different small samples. There will be plenty of time for experimentation and exploration of these techniques during the workshop.
