New passementerie workshop at West Dean

I am thrilled to announce that I will be teaching an in-person, two day passementerie weaving workshop at West Dean’s new London home on Sunday 7th July and Sunday 14th July 2024 (two day workshop) 10am - 4pm. To book, please click here.

Located in central London, join me for a hands-on journey into the rare and amazing world of passementerie weaving. Working with a simple to use frame loom, you will learn traditional hand making techniques under my expert guidance.

You will learn how to create 4 distinct passementerie designs that are based on traditional patterns, reinterpreted as striking and contemporary designs. You will also learn how to hand spin your own cords to use within your passementerie weaving.

You will learn how to weave passementerie using a frame loom and we will cover techniques such as fringe making, cord spinning, braiding, scalloping, picoting, and working with colour. Whether you are a complete beginner, or a seasoned textile crafter, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to delve into the artistry of handmade passementerie, taught by one of the UK’s last remaining passementerie makers.

Do I need experience of weaving?

Not at all! Please don’t worry if you have never woven before - no experience of weaving, or of passementerie, is required.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

You don’t need to bring anything with you, except a notebook and pen. All materials are included. The frame loom is also yours to keep after the class.
