I am delighted to present a behind-the-scenes preview of my latest, exclusive artwork collection. Crafted using traditional hand passementerie techniques, energetic and vibrant colour combinations and playful patterning, each hand woven artwork is a contemporary, one-of-a-kind piece.

Each hand woven artwork celebrates the transformative beauty that can be found in the delicate interplay of colour, pattern, materials and traditional hand craftsmanship. Every intricate element has been created by hand - from the bespoke dyeing of silk yarns in a unique palette of colours, to the art of spinning cords, and the intricate processes of hand weaving.

Drawing inspiration from the heritage and craft of the Silkwomen, I have created an exclusive collection of hand woven artworks, each piece radiating energetic colour combinations and intricate patterns – a contemporary embodiment of the City of London’s vibrant textile heritage.

The inspiration of this collection is the City of London – a seemingly unusual muse. The City of London has a rich and intriguing heritage of textile creation. For centuries, trades such as cloth tentering, embroidery and passementerie creation thrived across the City.

Many luxury textile businesses, including the hand making of exquisite passementerie, were owned and operated by women. These women were referred to as Silkwomen, a highly accomplished trade that were engaged in making the finest decorative textile passementerie by hand, including the creation of braids, ribbons, tassels and rosettes.

A large-scale hand woven artwork being woven on my table loom. Each of the silk cords was hand spun and hand dyed in my studio. Each cord is gradually woven through the warps, interlacing with one another in order to create complex woven patterns.
